Description
Automatic translation from Danish.
Kujahn Blask (1902-1970): Concrete composition, c. 1955. Signed on the exhibition label on the back. Oil on masonite. 122 x 94 cm.
Kujahn Blask was born in Poland and came to Denmark with her family as a political refugee in 1934. She quickly became part of the young artistic avant-garde, which later divided into different art movements, including Linien I and Cobra. In the 1950s, her idiom became more abstract and simplified. She exhibited a number of times, including with the male concrete artists from Linien II. Kujahn Blask was, and thus became, one of very few female voices from the Danish art scene of the time.
