Kasia Banas. Landscape with boats (cd)
Description
Automatic translation from Danish.
Kasia Banas (b. 1973). Landscape with boats, oil on canvas, sign. and dated K. Banas '09. 80 x 100 cm (82 x 102 cm).
Kasia Banas is Polish and educated at the Art Academy in Wroclaw, where she lives and works.
In addition to her home country of Poland, Kasia has exhibited in Germany, the Netherlands, England, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Croatia and Denmark.
The images move in a good mix of the abstract and figurative, and their rich graphic and coloristic diversity makes them interesting and captivating. Kasia's compositions are kept in strong contrasting colors and can be seen kept in either cold or warm contrasting colors, but sometimes supplemented with a splash of a color from the opposite "camp". The paint is applied in thin laser layers with countless nuances in the color tones.
My art is inspired by landscape and poetry: two sources of inspiration that mix in my illustrations. I use the language of abstraction, but in fact it is a deep love for nature, which has always formed the inspiration for my paintings. The vivid image of the landscape, the constantly changing light, color and space, has always been a good challenge for me. Therefore, I feel a need for a visual communication that is clear, concise and abstract, but retains its innate depths and variability.
The iconic elements in my works are simple shapes, lines, rhythms and colors that are clear illusions for actual objects, e.g. a ship, a riverbank, a footbridge or a field. My art is the visual narrative of the experiences I get on my travels and trips, which are then reflected on the canvas as my personal "landscape portrait".
I use different techniques. Oil paint on canvas is my favorite medium because it requires a lot of patience, but in the end it brings brilliant results. Oil paintings have wonderful colors and an inner light that is impossible to achieve with any other material. I also work with oil pastel and tempera on paper – these works are more spontaneous, sketchy, painted with a sweeping gesture.
