Porcelain wine cooler based on the 'Swan' service, made with openwork border and gold decoration, hand-painted with swans and herons in overglaze colors. Marked with the Meissen mark and engraved 'No. 1' and stamped '73' in the goods under the base. 19th century. H. 16.6 cm, W. 22.5 cm.
The original 'Swan service' was designed by Johann Joachim Kändler, Johann Friedrich Eberlein and Johann Gottlieb Ehder and produced at the Meissen factory in the period 1737-1742 on the order of King Augustus's Prime Minister and the factory's director, Count Heinrich von Brühl. The service included 2200 parts, but much was lost during World War II.
