Dahl-Jensen. Panther, bronze figure
Description
Automatic translation from Danish.
Panther, bronze figure. Signed under one foot 'Dahl-Jensen'. H. 18 cm, L. 26 cm. Weight approx. 8 kg.
Jens Peter Dahl-Jensen (1874-1960) was trained as a carpenter and subsequently trained as a sculptor under Vilhelm Bissen. In 1897 he was employed by Bing & Grøndahl, and it was while he was working here that in his spare time he modeled a number of animal figures, which were cast in bronze, and which in the period 1902-1925 were exhibited at the spring exhibition at Charlottenborg, the Artists' Autumn Exhibition, in Aarhus, Malmö, Berlin, Munich, Rome and San Francisco. Several of these later formed the basis for the figures that were made in porcelain at Dahl-Jensen's own factory established in 1925. The panther in this lot is thus the model for porcelain figure no. 1020.
